real stores + real time + real customers = real insights

Learning Lab

What is the Learning Lab?

Developed by the Wake Forest University Schools of Business, the Learning Lab leverages a designated set of Lowes Foods stores across the Carolinas to test innovative approaches in retail. The Learning Lab works with some of the most prominent worldwide brands to measure the impact of category disruption.

By utilizing a set of test stores and comparing transactional data, category changes can be measured against matched control stores. This also enables interviewing customers in-the-moment, capturing responses along the shopper journey.

Learning Lab engagements provide clear insight to:

  • New product introductions,
  • Planogram changes,
  • Merchandising impact,
  • Optimal store location, and
  • Basket analysis.

The integrated team triangulates the client’s problem by analyzing actual test/control transaction analysis combined with “in-the-moment” qualitative discussions.

The real-life Lowes Foods in-store Learning Lab allows you to:

  • Experiment with multiple planograms,
  • Test different locations in store,
  • Try out different pricing strategies, and
  • Engage with buyers that closely represent nationwide demographics.
